Urbandale, IA — North Central Poultry Association (NCPA) has announced the 2024 recipient of their Hall of Fame Award. The Hall of Fame award will be presented to Bruce Dooyema, of Center Fresh Egg Farm/Versova, at the awards banquet of the 54th Annual Fall Festival and Annual Meeting, September 25, at the FFA Enrichment Center in Ankeny, IA.

Dooyema is an egg farmer from Sioux Center, Iowa who turned 12 egg-laying hens, he was given as a teenager, into a lifetime passion for the poultry and egg industry where, today, he helps raise more than 4 million hens at Center Fresh Egg Farm.

Upon hearing of his selection as the Hall of Fame recipient, Dooyema said, “I am honored to be the North Central Poultry Association’s 2024 Hall of Fame recipient. Our family and the Versova team have been caring for our flocks and producing safe, nutritious eggs for generations. We have always recognized and embraced the need to do so in a responsible way. Working with family and the Versova team is a privilege, an opportunity and a blessing.”

Dooyema’ s service to the poultry and egg industry includes serving on the American Egg Board; United Egg Producer committees; International Egg Foundation; World Poultry Foundation; Egg Industry Center and the Iowa Egg Council, where he has served as chair for the past ten years. He is also a founding board member of the Iowa Poultry and Egg Scholarship Foundation.

Along with his extensive contributions to the poultry and egg industry, Dooyema is actively engaged in serving his community, which includes serving on the executive board of Sioux Center Health, Sioux Center Chamber Agricultural Committee and as president of the local volunteer ambulance squad.

Dooyema and his wife, Deb, have three daughters, Lindsey, Tessa and Whitney and two grandchildren, Logan and Emayln.

NCPA Executive Director Mindy Larsen said, “It is my honor that the North Central Poultry Association board chose to bestow the Hall of Fame recognition on Bruce Dooyema. The recognition notes his contributions to the industry and his engagement with the North Central Poultry Association and as President of the Iowa Egg Council. Bruce has been an engaged leader in the state, regional, national and worldwide egg community, and also has demonstrated leadership within his community in various roles and work.”
